Cathryn “Caty” Gits is an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Section of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. She focuses on charity regulation, registration of multilevel marketers and telephonic sellers, and enforcement of the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.
She participated in the Cancer Fund Multistate that to date is the largest charity fraud action. It consisted of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the FTC, where a judgment was imposed against the defendants for $75 million, the amount consumers donated to the sham charities. She also oversaw investigations and monitoring of charitable donation campaigns during the Great Flood of 2016.
She holds a J.D., cum laude, from Southern University Law center, and a B.A. in Political Science from St. Edward’s University. She is admitted to the Louisiana State Bar.
